Fun in the sun and sand

Last Day for SPB school trip

After a night in the hotel Harmony in Legion, we walked to the beach. The joy on the children's faces says it all

Into the water we go!

Water was cold, but we had a lot of fun building the rafts and then racing to the finish line. It was hard work - we were all very tired- including Ms. Regina and Ms. Carol

Which way to the water?

After what seemed like a long time, the team was able to create this raft. They could only use bamboo and rope. They were ready to try it out in the river.

Mr. Happy Feet

He was the star of the dancing section of last night's drumming and dancing.

Team Building

We had a great time having a contest to see which team could start a fire faster. It was a lot harder than it looked. Afterwards we made a huge bonfire and toasted marshmallows

Hard Night of Drumming

Last night the children had drum lessons. Alfian was taking a short break, before he began his dancing. Everyone loved how he danced to the beat of the drum- he was the star of the show!

Day Three Green Camp- comments

Maggie loved making her own mushroom pizza with sauce and cheese. We cooked it on an open fire. It was yummy. We had dessert pizza with fruit and chocolate.

Karen loved making organic chocolate. We smashed the cocoa bean with a big stick until it was a powder. Then we sprinkled it on vanilla ice cream. Enak!

Fiona loved getting down and dirty in the mud pit. We played games with other camp children.

Tasha loved to laugh and talk loudly in the yurt with her girlfriends as everyone else was trying to sleep. Ms. Carol got cranky and had to come scold us to PLEASE BE QUIET!

Nathan liked making his own pizza. He made mushroom and pepper pizza with lots of sauce and cheese. Then he didn’t eat it all because he saved some for his family to try.

Marcel loved the mud again. He liked throwing mud at each other. He also like playing “battle” against teams. Marcel was very good with the drum lesson that we had last night, but his hands got tired from all the drumming.

Mud pit madness was a favorite of Declan’s. He loved to step in the mud because it was squishy between his toes. He liked to throw it at the other children on the other team. Declan liked the drums, beating them, and then hearing the sounds which were beautiful.

David loved he mud pit. He liked to throw it at the other team. He liked the drum sound when all the children played drums together. The yurt is so comfortable and he slept well last night. He liked to eat the pizza he made, it was yummy. Later he enjoyed eating the ice cream and cocoa sprinkles.

Alfian liked to play in the mud. He wanted to find the big giant crystal that was hidden during the amazing race. He said if he found it he wanted to take it home. He really enjoyed the dancing with the drums last night. After his great performance everyone was clapping and cheering. The drummers matched my foot action. We learned about the African soccer song.

Bryan like all the boys liked the Mud Pit Madness. I have two new friends Nic and Hammie. They are campers at the Green School too. We played soccer with them. They play very well. Bryan really liked the dinner. Lots of good rice, beef and crackers. Later we had a fire when we toasted marshmallows. They were colorful in the fire. Some of the marshmallows got burned but they were still good.

After the mud pit

We have all cleaned up and now are building campfires. Ms. Regina is taking pictures of that, and Ms. Carol is sending this blog. We are all very happy, and very tired. Will write more on the blog tomorrow.

The Best Part of the Day - the Mud Pit!

Don't worry - it's only dirt!

Next year's fashion?

I think the hat was longer than Maggie!

Project Runway, Green Camp Style

Tasha and Jason are working very hard on their model's outfit. Notice the headband.

Natural Clothes Making

Later in the morning, we had a contest- which group could make a better outfit from natural materials. Maggie was the model for the one group, Fiona for the second. They had to create a top and bottom along with any other accessories that they wanted. Guess who won???

Day Three Green Camp

This morning we learned about the Hindu offerings. We made the containers and then took them to the river where we made wishes and watched them float away.

Cake for Fiona

Ms. Regina and Ms. Carol went to Ubud and got Fiona a birthday cake. The bakery did not have anyone to write on the cake so Ms. Regina stepped in!

Day Two at Green Camp

Declan says having a great time. Yesterday we did the amazing race game. Two teams competed making banyan leaf mats. My team lost but we still had fun. We got to go in the mud and look for a plastic frog. We won the second time!

Bryan liked the treasure hunt. My team was Fiona, David, Jason and Maggie. We had to look for parts of puzzle and put together the building. My team won!
We found the first biggest bamboo monument in Asia!

Maggie liked making the masks. They were made to be part of nature, we got to paint them. I made the sun, moon, fire and water on my mask. All of them are colorful.

Nathan liked the night safari because we can learn about the animals in Bali. I saw and touched the snake, a spider and a tokek. Mr. Ron, our guide caught a poisonous centipede. Mr. Cobra is good at finding night creatures in Bali. He found a praying mantis. He is very brave!

Our sleeping arrangements

P5 boys slept in one yurt, p4 boys slept in another, the girls all slept in one yurt and Ms. Carol and Ms. Regina each had their own yurt. We are right next to each other and it's lots of fun to see the stars shining clear at night.

Happy Birthday Fiona!

Today is Fiona's 10th birthday and she is having fun with her friends. Fiona says that sharing a yurt with her friends is the best part of the camp. The toilets are the worst - they are clean but smelly. Fiona and all the children are learning about how we need to protect the earth and that's why the toilets are compostable. Fiona also says that waking up to the beautiful, green jungle was very good.

Having Fun at Green Camp!

Greetings one and all! We are having a wonderful time at Green Camp. Here we are right after a yummy breakfast and getting ready to start the days activities. We are getting use to the ways of the jungle, but it is great fun.

Greencamp - Here we are now

Dear parents and friends,

The group had reached green camp safe and sound.
Green camp will give the password for the internet tomorrow, so that they are now unable to post any of their experiences.
Wait for our posting tomorrow then... Have a good nite all
